Loose Threads

The Value of a Critique

One of the things I admire about how Nancy critiques my work is that she shares how it makes her feel, what confuses her, what she likes.  Her questions helped me figure out how I had originally planned to hang it seemed to contradict what it was about. So I decided to stitch down the loose threads on the side of the embroidery. It's very fitting really as in life there are often a lot of loose threads, threads that bind us and so stitching them down is very relevant to this piece.
Sketchbook
So I played a little with a photograph of the bike trail dog and paint in my sketchbook. It may become inspiration for an embroidery or another painted piece.
