Worry Dolls and Rocks

I am making a few worry dolls for the art ball machine using left over fabric from the pillow I made for the guest room. I can't make a lot as they take a wee bit time, but I do like to put a few special things in the art balls to keep up the element of surprise.

My son took a pic of this "zipper stone" at the JUMING Museum located about an hour from Taipei city. Sort of reminds me of one of my fave artists, Claes Oldenburg. I would LOVE to have this in my garden, that would ROCK! go on groan!

Claes Oldenberg. I always thought of him as an old softy.
GREAT song on this post! Reminds me of when I was in London and I saw 'We Will Rock U' at the Dominion Theatre...

And, that worry doll is cute.. His eyes remind me of the beaded devil doll that I made...

oh yours is cute lone beader, although a LOT more elaborate :)

I hadn't thought of him that way ed, but maybe all the soft giant lollipops has something to do with it :)

"an old softy" heheheehehe that one made me laugh!

I like your worry doll - my doll is out of the kiln - i just need to make a proper body for him...

Queen always reminds me of when I was 13 or so and we'd be riding in the car to go to church and my dad would parody the song because it would drive him crazy. "What, you call this music??" Yet, he never switched the station either...

alas philip I am hopeless at welding or carving :( so no zipper stones at this house.

bah, foiled by Blogger's narrow comments area again - go to youtube and search for "Rex the Runt" and you'll find them :)

benjy, that's hilarious, I love the boobs on the female one. thanks.
That rock is a hoot ...

The doll is so neat, great object for your ball machine. Not sure I'd have the patience to sew more than one though.

Zipper rock is cool. (fun to say -- repeat after me -- zipper rock!)

I have an idea. YOu can put the artwork you were concerned about in the guestroom and just make some worry dolls for your guests. :-)

nancy, I love hand sewing, I find it soothing and so I am enjoying doing them. Of course if it stops being fun I won't make any more :) then I will move on and make another object for the art balls.

HA! HA! JAN, that is fun.

Minx, Glad you like the perturbed doll and zipper rock! zipper rock! zipper rock!
I love the rock and wish I could buy one of your art balls. What a fun surprise the doll would be. Maybe some day...

Oh I love the sculpture and Fong will go crazy for it. He does a lot of stuff like this too.
I wouldn’t mind being the recipient of one of your art ball thinggies. Great idea.
I can’t stand waste of any sort and hoard scraps of everything, Fong vows that if we ever decide to move it will be a case of ‘the place comes with EVERYTHING’, and we leave in the clothes we’re wearing. I sometimes ponder on how much fun our boys are going to have sorting this steptoe and son lifestyle of ours.

My son there was a zipper tent also. I will be posting some of the pics he took of it and others when he visited the juming museum in Taiwan. I just LOVE the rock though, totally cool.
